Until Monday 08 November 2021, the Lille Palace of Fine Arts organise the Open Museum # 7 – François Boucq – Trompe l’œil at the Museum. The famous designer Lille François Boucq offers you a Open Museum surprising and humorous!
L’Open Museum is an invitation given each spring to a personality or to a genre that we do not expect in a museum. It’s here cheerful conjugation and scholar both disciplines among themselves, in order to transmit the taste of art and knowledge, Without forgetting pleasure and the imaginary.
This year seventh edition from l’Open Museum is devoted to the lillois comic book author François Boucq, on the occasion of the year of comics launched by the Ministry of Culture and some future author donation at Lille Palace of Fine Arts.
François Boucq is one of the greatest current French designers. Since 40 years, son prolific activity as well led him on the way to the popular comic (the Bouncer, Le Janitor series) that humorous (Rock Masterd, Les adventures of Jérôme Moucherot) or press illustration (Le Point, Le Matin de Paris, Le Monde). To collaboration with the novelist Jérôme Charyn gave several critically acclaimed albums (Devil’s mouth, Little Tulip and very recently New York Cannibals). He received the grand prize of the city of Angoulême for all of his work in 1998, and a recently covered the trial of the 2015 bombings for the journal Charlie Hebdo.
The designer propose a visit to the museum speak prism of his universe of images and references, playing, above all, correspondence between the arts and the eras. Its common thread? Get out of the box!
An event-donation
On the occasion of l’Open Museum dedicated to him, François Boucq made an exceptional and generous donation at Lille Palace of Fine Arts, dont a selection is presented during the event.
With more than 350 drawings, it is one of the massive first comic book entries in the collections of a museum of fine arts. All aspects of the polymorphous talent of this virtuoso designer are represented: plates of the author’s most emblematic albums (Bouncer; Le Janitor; The adventures of Jérôme Moucherot; The magician’s wife and Little Tulip with Jérôme Charyn, etc …), of press cartoons and news posted on social networks (Charlie-Hebdo, Sciences et Vie Junior), of illustrations (Legend of Lydéric and Phinaert), of travel watercolors (New York and Mexico) or even naked or some paintings diverting masterpieces from the history of art.
