Top 14: an exemption to 14,000 spectators granted for the Toulouse – La Rochelle final

It won’t be the big crowd, but there will still be a little more people, noise, and atmosphere than initially expected. At the request of the National League, the government decided on Tuesday to grant an exemption from the maximum level for the Top 14 final on Friday evening between Toulouse and La Rochelle. 14,000 spectators, instead of the 5,000 initially planned, will be able to attend the match at the Stade de France.

Considering the exceptional nature of the Top 14 final, the favorable evolution of the health situation, the proximity of the date of June 30, on which the measurement restrictions in the stadiums will be lifted, and the specificities of the Stade de France in terms of reception capacity and organization of flows, the Prime Minister has decided to accept the request of the LNR to organize the final of the Top 14 with 14,000 spectators at the Stade de France, wrote the cabinet of Jean Castex to AFP. The Prime Minister, present in the stands of the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in Villeneuve-d’Ascq during the semi-final between Toulouse and Bordeaux-Bègles on Saturday evening, had met on this occasion the president of the League René Bouscatel, without however suggest a relaxation of measures.

Beyond compliance with the already applicable distancing rules and the implementation of the health pass, the public will be divided into three sealed areas, and over all the open stands of the stadium, in order to allow the greatest possible distance between the viewers. The duel between La Rochelle and Stade Toulouse, winners in the semi-finals of Racing 92 (19-6) and Union Bordeaux-Bègles (24-21) respectively, will constitute a revenge for the final of the European Cup. , won on May 22 by Toulouse (22-17).
