What last September seemed to be an idyllic love between Everton Y James Rodriguez, today is falling apart. When the Colombian joined the English club in 2020, he was received as the crack which is, but the absences in key Premier League games and the departure of Carlo Ancelotti as technical director of the blues they would be causing the relationship to end.

In the last week, the cucuteño has sounded like one of the possible reinforcements of AC Milan, taking into account the departure of the Turkish ’10’, Hakan Calhanoglu, and the return of the Italian club to the Champions League. It was even known that Jorge Mendes, James’ representative, is offering it to Atlético de Madrid and Napoli, teams with which the coffee grower has already been associated.

Everton, according to the Daily Mail, would agree to sell the high-priced player and achieve a more constant signing for the ‘Toffees’.

Faced with the situation of the ’10’ of Colombia, another star of the ‘Tricolor’ suggested that the wisest move for Rodríguez was to leave the blue club. This is Faustino ‘Tino’ Asprilla who, as a commentator on ESPN Fútbol Colombia, disagreed with Andrés Marocco, a journalist who believes that the midfielder should stay with the English team.

“It is very clear that Rafa Benitez is a ‘hater’ of James Rodríguez, I would never put it. If Rafa no longer comes, if he has already been ruled out, you have to stay at Everton ”, expressed the journalist.

On the other hand, Andrea Guerrero, part of the panel, questioned the opinion of the sports journalist: “But if you want to be happy elsewhere?” he asked, to which Marocco replied: “No, that little theme about you wanting to be happy, Andrea, no more. In other words, one has to start fulfilling contracts and being serious about commitments. (…) If Benitez comes, leave. Don’t come, so stay ”, he asserted, arguing that interesting players can enter the English box.

Faced with this, Guerrero put on the table the possibility that James did not want to be in Liverpool, the English city home of the ‘Toffee’ team.

Asprilla quickly established his opinion of the coastal city in the center of the UK. “It’s not about that, Andrea. No, of course. If they put Liverpool or Milan on me, I don’t even think about it. From Liverpool to Milan there is a huge city difference ”, the former player pointed out.

“That’s not what James has to think right now,” Marocco said, but Asprilla assured that it is his personal opinion: “I’m saying, if they put me on”.

While the journalist argued that stability is key, while Aspirlla said that James has the final decision on his whereabouts and, among other things, suggested that he should go to a team with a pass to the Champions League.

“He has the pass in his hand. He has always wanted to play Champions ”, sentenced the ex-Parma of Italy.

Do Everton want to sell James?

Among the reasons Everton would seek James out, in addition to his performance last season, has to do with the team’s financial condition.

“Everton have financial concerns about fair play, so losing James’ huge salary and earning a transfer fee would be something for them to consider, especially given the player’s absence for large parts of the last season,” reads the Daily Mail post.

James’ salary with toffees It would be around seven million pounds sterling, that is to say 7.8 million euros, hence why economically his departure could favor the club. What’s more, the Colombian, who has a contract with the club until June 2022, is valued at 22 million euros, according to the specialized portal Transfermarkt, which is why selling it at this time could increase the right zeros in the club’s accounts.
