Badminton continues to bring joy to the sport of Ourense. The most recent example was the Galician Championship in the sub-11 category. And it is that the youngest of the Athlos Club have shown that they also know how to perform at the highest level.
The municipal sports center of the Pontevedra town of Tui hosted an autonomous event that was attended by two young competitors from Ourense. Antón González and Daniel Álvarez traveled there, accompanied by coach Sara Ezquerro.
In the men’s doubles competition, success for the Athlos duo, by standing in the final. With the medal already secured, González and Álvarez starred in a tight match for the title that escaped them after two very even sets in which they lost 16-14 and 17-15.
In the individual tables there was also a provincial presence on the regional podium. Daniel Álvarez reached the bronze medal, while Antón González advanced to the quarterfinal round, in which he gave up to run out of podium options.
