The return of sports activities is doing the most good

The transition to the yellow zone marks the return of “almost normal” sports activities on the grounds and in the gyms.

“At 6:30 pm, the first ‘play ball’ should be said on the city’s baseball fields,” assured David Lavallée of the Quebec Minor Baseball Association.

Everything was therefore ready to allow the ball players to start off last night, with the exception of the weather.

On the soccer fields, the rain did not prevent training for 25 people from taking place, but the associations nevertheless gave themselves a few days before the start of the seasons. “We gave ourselves two weeks for the teams to prepare,” explained Félix Sanvestre of Soccer Quebec, although complete groups will be on the field to play.

The spectators’ question was however “a vague point” for the associations since for the moment the crowds are “not recommended”, which leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

“We will do our best to ensure that the rules are respected,” said Mr. Lavallée.

Without mask

Another novelty for training rooms, where it is now possible to train in small groups without a mask.

A sigh of relief for Amélie Beaumont, whose Yoga Fitness business had to remain closed while the gyms were open.

“It was two weeks difficult to digest,” admitted the entrepreneur, however happy to welcome groups of up to 12 people in her yoga rooms.

“We are really happy,” said the one who does not want another closure.

With the mask which is no longer compulsory once at the training station, Florian Bianchi, from the Sport Evolution gym, said he found himself in an “almost normal” situation.

Good for the head

Good news for these small businesses who have had it hard for 15 months.

“Training in a gang is psychological, it feels good,” said Véronique Déry of CrossFit Quebec City.

After training outside, the groups could take back possession of the studio.
