Pampas Teams Gear Up for Federal Basketball League Playoffs

The three Pampas teams that compete in the Federal Basketball League will begin their path in the playoffs this Saturday after having been the best in Zone A of the Southeast Division: while All Boys de Santa Rosa and Independiente de General Pico start as visitors, Ferro It will be local in its Piquense stadium.

The ‘Verde’ led by Diego Alba finished third in the table and tomorrow will appear before its people in a tough match against San Martín de Junín, which was second in Zone B of the Southeast. The match will begin at 9:30 p.m. at the Colosito de Barrio Talleres while on Tuesday the 21st the series will move to the city of Buenos Aires where, if necessary, the third game will be played on Wednesday.

Ferro, who last Federal was the Pampas player who went the furthest when playing the semifinal with Unión de Mar del Plata (later promoted to the Argentine League), took advantage of the break after qualifying to recharge his batteries and wait for the “Granadero” from Junin, who has as figures players like Santiago Giraudo, Agustín Acuña and Franco Lombardi.

All Boys, for their part, will visit Colón de Chivilcoy this Saturday from 9 p.m. The people of Buenos Aires eliminated Los Indios de Junín in the play in and will be a very tough team because they have two high-quality perimeter guards like Erbel De Pietro and Matías Morera (they played in clubs in the National League and the Argentine League) alongside David Véliz, who a few months ago was in Rojo Piquense.

Juan Cruz Gavazza’s Auriazul finished first in Zone A and will have the home field advantage, so on Tuesday the second game will be at the Aquiles Regazzoli gym (from 9 p.m.) and if necessary a third and defining game will be played on Wednesday the 22nd (at 9pm) in the Pampas capital.

Independiente, for its part, finished second in the table and will face Somisa de San Nicolás in a series that will begin this Saturday at 9:30 p.m. in that Buenos Aires city. The second game, meanwhile, will be played at Gigante de la Avenida on Tuesday the 21st while on Wednesday the 22nd a third game will be played, if necessary, also on the ‘Rojo’ court.

Somisa has as its figure the Corrientes point guard Axel Méndez, who played for San Martín de Corrientes in the National League and for Tomás Rocamora in the Argentine League, and will surely be a tough opponent for those led by Juan Pagnanini.
