The mayor of Betanzos, María Barral, and her counterparts from Abegondo, Miño and Pontedeume, José Antonio Santiso, Manuel V. Faraldo and Bernardo Fernández, and representatives of the Santo Domingo club yesterday presented the Betanzos Children’s Spanish Championship, which will be held in the four municipalities as of June 12,
The competition, which will last until June 18, will bring together 32 teams from all over the national territory, 384 athletes between 12 and 13 years old, 192 technicians, 40 volunteers, 100 referees and assistants.
The council members and representatives of the organizing club celebrated the “positive impact on the local economy” that the championship will have and stressed that during that week not only the players, but also their relatives and friends, will remain in the region.
Between June 12 and 18, 64 games will be held. In the first phase of the championship, the matches will be played in the municipalities of Abegondo, Betanzos, Pontedeume and Miño and from the round of 16 the entire competition will be concentrated in Betanzos. All the games will be broadcast on the internet by the Concello betanceiro.
