The boys of Chianti Baseball play great on the “diamond” of the barrel

SAN CASCIANO – A sunny Saturday afternoon at the pitch in the La Botte sports area (San Casciano) was the setting for a match like few in this category (Under 12). Two teams, those of “Chiantella”, and Bsac Grosseto well prepared and fielded.

It begins on the mound for the Chianti people Lupo Takuma, as always, very fast and precise that in two innings launched he concedes only one point to the opponents without suffering valid jokes.

The Chianti attack touches the opponent starter, but only manages to achieve the point of the tie.

In the third inning the pitcher changes and goes up to the platform Filippo Cassini, which continues on the previous trend, truly granting the crumbs to the opposing clubs.

The attack instead manages to score two important points, thanks to the good valid of Gabriele Bazzani who places the ball between the outside center and the right, bringing the score to 3 to 1 for the hosts.

In the fourth inning Grosseto goes back down with a point resulting from some defensive indecision of the “Chiantella”.

At the fifth, Cassini descends from the platform and goes up Leonardo Tarchi, who despite the rather tense situation manages to keep a cool head and close the second half with great confidence.

The last Chianti attack starts with a good dose of bad luck, two good blows, one by Takuma Lupo on the outside center and one on the right by Gabriele Bazzani, are caught by the outside. Balls not easy, a symptom of great solidity of the opposing defense.

Thus begins the sixth and last inning forward 3 to 2, but with the breath of Grosseto on the neck. However the pitcher Leonardo Tarchi manages to eliminate the first two batters to the plate with great tranquility (at least in appearance …).

Here comes the turn of the third hitter from Grosseto who, after having shot the first pitch, hits a very hard ball towards the shortstop.

However, he had not come to terms with … Filippo Cassini (said Panda) who, with a grip in the glove of an experienced player, fires an assistance missile at first base for the last and final out.

The whole bench and the grandstand crowded with parents explodes: games like this give morale to the team but above all they are good for youth baseball, as a symptom of a general technical growth that the Tuscan “beat and run” movement has been having in recent years.

The next match for the Under 12 team from Chianti will be on Wednesday 9 June on the field of Antella against the YMCA of Castiglione della Pescaia.

Saturday 5 June also saw the debut on the pitch of the La Botte sports facility of the Baseball Chianti Under 15 team for the third match of group B of the 2021 Regular Season.

The team, after the first two victorious outings respectively against Etruscan Fighters and Grosseto BSC, faced the team of Sesto Fiorentino Polisportiva Padule Baseball.

Although the game was “spoiled” by an over-quota deployed by the visiting team, the manager’s boys Marco Gabriele, assisted by coaches Adolfo Borrel e Sasha Rouf, they took the field determined and with the right determination.

Thanks to the excellent performance on the mound of Duccio Cassini, later taken over by Nicola Piccolo, and to a careful defense the score of the opponents remained at zero, while in attack all the players of the line up gave their contribution bringing at the end of the fourth inning the score on an eloquent 14-0!

Despite the Chianti Baseball boys having played a “divine” match, they could not have anything against Giove pluvio who at the beginning of the fifth inning, with one already eliminated in favor, forced the referee to stop the match due to the impracticability of the field.

The Under 15 team stopped only by… rain
