Sylvain Lautié in conflict with the Malian Federation

While Mali is living uncertain days, after the military coup that brought Colonel Assimi Goïta to power, and led in particular to the arrest of the President and the Prime Minister, Sylvain Lautié (52) who was coach of the Malian male selection, then female, took action against the country’s basketball federation.

The former coach of Nancy, with whom he won the Korac Cup 2002, but also passed to Levallois and Boulazac among others, had taken the reins of the Malian selection, male then female, from 2005 to 2020. He had notably obtained two bronze medals with women at the African Cup of Nations in 2017 and 2019.

16 months of salary claimed

His contract expired in December 2020, but the French coach regrets that he was not paid as planned. In a press release sent by his lawyer, Me Xavier Lecerf-Galle, he said he understood “The financial difficulties of the Malian Federation […] as well as the circumstances of political instability with their share of uncertainties ”, but demands that he be paid the sixteen months salary to which he is entitled.

Through his lawyer, the case was brought before the Labor Council of Nancy, whose conciliation office will have to judge a provisional request corresponding to unpaid wages. The hearing will take place on December 14, 2021, at 10 a.m.
