Straight through the Hageland ends up in the basket of soloist Chantal van den Broek-Blaak | women’s cycling

Chantal van den Broek-Blaak has an honors list to tell you, but the 31-year-old SD Worx leader will end her career at the end of next year.

However, the Dutch, world champion in 2017 and winner of the Tour of Flanders in 2020, is not thinking about bulging.

In the women’s edition of Dwars door het Hageland she completed “a firm solo”, as our commentators said.

Thanks also to the blocking work of her teammates. Christine Majerus played her part from the book and was still fresh enough to take second place, ahead of Lorena Wiebes, Lotte Kopecky and Jolien D’hoore.

It is Blaak’s second win of the season after the Strade Bianche in March.

“This was not really the plan”, she laughed after her solo of roughly 50 kilometers. “It was hectic and I just wanted to try it. They shouted on the radio: just keep driving. Then you can only keep stomping.”

The winner’s reaction: “This was not the plan, but I kept on stomping”
