A sustained motivation to develop his coaching practice, a sustainable strategic approach and a healthy regional focus are among the reasons why abc Aalborg head coach Thomas Nielsen has been nominated for the Badminton Denmark Talent Award 2021.

After numerous years as an enterprising talent developer, the second nominee in the series of candidates for Badminton Denmark’s Talent Award 2021, Thomas Nielsen, remains both motivated and up to the mark when it comes to developing and renewing himself.

The North Jutland talent coach, who has been a driving force in building a sustainable system, based on ATK, in abc Aalborg, where many talented players have been hatched, is praised by Badminton Denmark’s talent development manager, Lars Uhre, for his persistent hunger for new knowledge.

– Thomas is constantly busy developing as a coach. He is extremely inquisitive, and he is happy to share his knowledge with others and is both active and committed when it comes to collaborating with and developing the clubs in the region, says Lars Uhre.

It is precisely the collaboration that is an important priority for Thomas Nielsen, he explains himself.

– I have always run with open training, because I think it is important to share knowledge. If everyone helps each other help each other, then we lift in droves. I see this as extremely important and necessary, because otherwise we risk becoming vulnerable, no matter where in the country we are, says Thomas Nielsen.

Asked how he maintains the desire for knowledge after so many years in the subject and after having completed pretty much everything that is possible, from the diploma coach education to the elite coach education, it reads:

– When I come out into the hall and see what happens when players experience joy in learning new things and are motivated to develop further, it does it all for me. The motivation to learn new things as a coach has therefore never been a problem, as long as there are players who find it fun to play badminton. So I am also ready to help them get to where their goals and dreams are.

Next Monday, the third and final talent award candidate in the series of this year’s nominees will be presented.
