Roger Federer withdraws from Roland Garros | Tennis

“After two knee surgeries, it’s important that I listen to my body,” the 20-time grand slam champion said in a statement shared by Roland Garros. “It’s important that I don’t push myself too much in my recovery. I love that I played three games. There is no better feeling than being back on the track.”

The big goal for Federer this year is Wimbledon, which he wants to win for the ninth time. After his victory over Köpfer (the match ended at 00.45), the number eight in the world already expressed doubts about playing against Berrettini. The Italian now moves on to the quarter-finals without playing.

Wimbledon starts in three weeks. Federer will participate for Wimbledon in Halle, the tournament in Germany that he has already won ten times, including the last edition in 2019.
