Queues at Calandhal injection site due to vaccine problems: “Waited hours for nothing”

Around noon there was great crowds in front of the Calandhal in Nieuw-West because people could not be vaccinated after all. Everyone has since been sent to another location.

A bystander spoke of “total chaos”. “Hundreds of people in and around the sports hall.” According to a local resident there were “rows thick”.

To prepare

People who queued say they have been told there were problems with the temperature of the vaccines. According to a spokesperson for the GGD, that is not correct, according to him there were “problems with preparing the vaccines”. He couldn’t say exactly what was going on.

In total there were 2000 appointments in the Calandhal today. Some of those appointments went through this morning. People who would come by later in the day are called by a team from the GGD.

NDSM site

If they wish, they can go to one of the other three vaccination locations in the city: the Rai, the NDSM site or the AFAS live. According to the GGD spokesperson, there is enough room for them there. If you still want to be vaccinated in the Calandhal, you can go on another day.

According to a bystander, the vaccination location on the NDSM site is “very busy” because of the people who actually had an appointment in the Calandhal.
