Phil Foden most expensive player in the world, Mbappé far behind, according to CIES

Koundé and Martial also in the list

The title of the most expensive player goes to the Englishman Phil Foden, recent finalist of the Champions League with Manchester City. According to the classification made by the study center based in Switzerland, it would cost 190 million euros to afford the services of the darling of Pep Guardiola. Two other Manchester players, United this time around, complete the podium established by CIES: Mason Greenwood, who is said to cost 178 million euros, as well as Marcus Rashford, who is estimated to be worth 159 million euros.

Kylian Mbappé, who held the title of the most expensive player in the world, is now in 12th place, the price of his transfer is no longer estimated “at” 118 million euros. The contractual situation of the PSG striker, to whom only one year of lease remains with the club of the capital, weighs heavily. Mbappé is far from Erling Haaland (155 million euros), 4th in this ranking and the first player not belonging to a Premier League club.

But he remains the first French, ahead of Jules Koundé (nearly 82 million euros, 35th) and Anthony Martial (81 million euros, 37th). To establish this ranking, CIES relied on an algorithm that includes many parameters, including contract duration, age, international status, career progression and performance, among others.
