Markis Kido in Lee Chong Wei’s Memories

Jakarta

It is not only the Indonesian public who feel they have lost the badminton legend, Markis Kido. Former Malaysian badminton player, Lee Chong Wei, also felt lost.

Markis Kido breathed his last while playing badminton at GOR Petrolin, Alam Sutera, Tangerang, Monday (14/6/2021) night WIB.

Kido was rushed to the Omni Alam Sutera hospital but his life could not be saved. It is suspected that Kido died of heart failure because he had collapsed on the badminton court.

On Tuesday (14/6), Markis Kido’s body was prayed at the mosque around the funeral home, Bekasi City. Then the bodies were taken to the TPU Kebun Nanas, around 10.00 WIB.

Markis Kido was buried in the same grave as his father. His father passed away on April 2 2008, four months before Kido won the Beijing Olympic gold medal in the men’s doubles sector with Hendra Setiawan.

The sad news of Kido’s death has reached Lee Chong Wei’s ears. He thinks about the fate of the Kido family after his departure, but also always remembers Kido’s character.

“I will never forget his relentless smash and his relentless attitude of giving up,” wrote Lee Chong Wei in his personal Instagram stories, who is currently still a down player in the men’s singles sector.

There was a plan to bury Markis Kido at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP), South Jakarta. However, the family did not receive the latest update from the government until the time awaited so they decided to bury the deceased at the Kebon Nanas TPU.
