Luengo ends his cycle in the subsidiary and can close the circle in Amorebieta

Oier Luengo (11-11-97) ends his stage at Bilbao Athletic this summer to join, if the talks are finally sealed, in new central SD Amorebieta, recently promoted to the Second Division and club where the hitherto defender of the rojiblanco subsidiary was formed. A Luengo with a market in the SmartBank League, such as Real Oviedo del Cuco Ziganda, and in leading clubs of the First RFEF.

The Bilbao Athletic center-back, who ended his contract on June 30, will not continue in the rojiblanco club after rejecting the offer of one more year within the integrated team for the next season in the First RFEF. The defender zornotzarra, one of the regulars in the central axis combining the position with Aitor Paredes and Antxon Jaso, has played a total of 48 games for the rojiblanco subsidiary in two seasons.

In the last one in the subsidiary there have been 23, in whose bosom he ended up in the 2018-19 season, with a campaign loaned precisely to his home club, SD Amorebieta. A center back with vigor, arrival and very concentrated in his area, free from ties, precisely the likes of the Blues coach, Iñigo Vélez de Mendizabal, who together with the sports director, Asier Goiria, aspires to reinforce himself with exclusively Basque players.

In the 2019-20 season, with three goals in his locker taking advantage of his remarkable passing game, Luengo made his debut in several friendlies last preseason under the command of Gaizka Garitano. In a full restructuring of Bilbao Athletic, Julen Bernaola, Inigo Baqué, Jesús Areso and Aitor Seguín, on loan to Barakaldo, will not continue in the red-and-white discipline next season either after finalizing their contracts on June 30. In addition, three other players on loan this season, goalkeepers Chris Atangana, at Arenas, and Aritz de Miguel, at SD Leioa and forward Josu Juste, at Sestao River, were also disengaged from the Ibaigane club. At the same time, the contracts of the bulk of the 2000 generation have been extended: Agirrezabala, García de Albéniz, Paredes, Artola, Prados and Urain until June 2025, plus Cabo and Diarra until 2023, and one more year to Jaso. Oier Luengo, 23, flies free and can close a circle in his town of Amorebieta to continue his fledgling football career.
