Long-distance jumper Lauma Grīva’s career ends with a 6.24 meter long jump and bronze in the Latvian championship – in Latvia

Latvian long-distance jumper Lauma Grīva won the third place in the Latvian Athletics Championship on Saturday, which was her last competition in her career.

Grīva announced his plans to end his career on his Instagram profile on Friday. She pointed out that seven months after the birth of her second son, it was time to end her career.

On Saturday, the athlete jumped at a distance of 6.24 meters in the best attempt at the Jānis Lūša Stadium of the Zemgale Olympic Center and won the third place.

The victory with a seven-centimeter jump was won by Grīva’s sister Māra, but 6.28 meters was won by Darja Sopova, who took second place.

14 athletes competed in the ladies’ competition in the Latvian championship.

The 36-year-old Grīva has been out of competition since September 2019.

Grīva’s personal record is 6.86 meters achieved in 2011 in Valmiera.

Grīva has represented Latvia at the 2012 London Olympics, world and European championships.
