Last Sunday, more than 200 participants participated in the launch of badminton, for the first time in Dakar. An event co-organized by the badminton federation and Yatma Lô’s budo Beach.
It is new in Senegal, badminton is a racquet sport that opposes either two players or two pairs (doubles), placed in two half-courts separated by a net. These players are called badists, they score points with a shuttlecock (Air-Suttle) using a racket in order to make it fall in the opposing field.
the exchange ends as soon as the shuttlecock hits the ground or gets caught in the net. Thus, last Sunday, its launch was carried out by the president of the federation Tony Diandy, who explains: ”This is a new project, we are going to carry out three discovery sessions. Then we will start the competitions. The young people answered the call and many of them came to play with us on the beach.
Soon, we will go to Gorée, then to the Place de l’Obélisque. We co-organized the event with Budo Beach run by Yatma Lô. It is a sport still little known in Senegal and we count on promoting it and getting members to join ”.
