Kieran Trippier One of Manchester United’s Priorities This Summer

Manchester United continue to target new names this summer to improve the squad. Kieran Tripper, Atletico Madrid’s right-back, is his target.

MU closed the 2020/2021 season on a less sweet note. After being able to become runners-up in the Premier League, the Red Devils failed to win a trophy after failing in the Europa League final, because they lost on penalties to Villarreal.

Overhauling the squad is one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s jobs. And the Norwegian manager has reportedly been targeting several names.

One of them is Kieran Trippier, a right-back who now plays for Atletico Madrid.

The English player has performed well in his second season at Atletico. He helped Diego Simeone to the LaLiga title, straddling the dominance of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

And that sparked Solskjaer’s interest. The manager intends to recruit him, in order to increase competition with Aaron Wan Bissaka.

Apart from Trippier, MU is also associated with several other names. Among them are Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Sancho is still being hunted by Manchester United, even though he failed last season. The problem is Borussia Dortmund peg its players with an expensive price tag, which is difficult for MU to agree on.

United are also eyeing Varane, who has one year remaining on his contract at Real Madrid. The French defender is expected to be able to patch the hole in the central defender position, which Harry Maguire judged to be less than optimal at.

Some time ago, Solskjaer did confirm that he needed new players. Additional strength needed squad, in order to compete with Manchester City.

In addition to buying, MU will also sell many players. The latest report says, nine players will try to be released this summer.
