Kelenic sent back to Triple A by Mariners

The Seattle Mariners have been in a constant period of rebuilding for at least two decades, not being able to classify to the MLB playoffs since the 2001 season and after losing several of its greatest players in its history how Félix Hernández and Ichiro Suzuki in that period, being one of his greatest hopes to finally win his prospect no.1, Jarred Kelenic. However, since his debut, nothing has been easy for the 21-year-old.

Since making his first appearance on May 13, Kelenic has had a hard time hitting .096 with 8 hits in 83 at-bats and a tremendous slump of 42 no-hitter plate appearances, and trying to regain a Little his form and pace, according to information from USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, has been sent back to Triple A.

To replace Kelenic on the Mariners’ roster they have brought Shed Long Jr. back from the 60-day disabled list, admitting that perhaps it was a mistake to have risen to the team’s No. 1 prospect early, as he currently also has the Longest no-hitter streak of current Major League Baseball season.

For this 2021 season, Kelenic continues to be widely considered one of the best prospects in all of MLB, being No. 4 in Baseball America and by MLB Pipeline, and sixth on the Baseball Prospectus list.
