In the finals, Tsunoda’s experience paid off when she first met Tomoe-nage. scored and then again with a counter attack to secure her first world title.

Russia defeats Kazakhstan – gold for Iago Abuladze

In the men’s weight category up to 60kg, Iago Abuladze from the Russian Judo Federation had the day of his life. He defeated both Bouda of France and Shamshadin of Kazakhstan to secure a place in the final against Gusman Kyrgyzbayev of Kazakhstan.

He cut a great figure throughout the day and showed dynamic judo on the way to the fight for the gold medal. In this Abuladze used his unorthodox and explosive judo in the booth and demonstrated that he deserves to be world champion.

The Russian judoka is on the road to success. He was already runner-up at the 2020 European Championships in the extra light weight category and now gold at the 2021 World Cup.

Evgeny Kuyvashev, Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, presented Iago Abuladze with his gold medal.

“I’m actually surprised to hear that my judo is good because everyone says it’s strange,” says Iago Abuladze. “And about Ne-Waza, I wanted to break the stereotype that Caucasus people don’t know how to fight Ne-Waza, so I worked on it”.

There were two bronze medals for Spain, for Julia Figueroa and Francisco Garrigos.

Once again Hungary shows that it is a real judo nation that hosts a world championship that presents the whole range of judo.
