Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beaten by Egor Gerasimov in Eastbourne

It’s already over for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. For his entry on grass, Manceau fell in the first round in the Eastbourne tournament (ATP 250), beaten by Belarusian Egor Gerasimov (72nd) in straight sets and 1h14 of play (6-3, 6-4).

The Frenchman may in particular regret a first diesel set, where he had a hard time relying on his serve (only 46% of first balls), when his recovery game was very ineffective, with only two points scored on the six bets. in Gerasimov’s game!

On the other hand, Tsonga’s second set was much more consistent. More comfortable with his face-off, more committed to the return games, he even had a break point at 2-1 and another break point at 2-3, which he could not however capture. These two missed chances were enough to put him out of the shot, as there was in the meantime a missed serve at 2-2, with a big forehand foul and two double faults, which cost him his faceoff and an entry elimination. Not the ideal obviously before Wimbledon.
