Humbert, the surprise champion of Halle

Ugo Humbert (31st) delivered the big hit of the day against Andrey Rublev (7th) in the ATP 500 final in Halle. The Frenchman was crowned for the first time in a tournament of this category after defeating the Russian 6-3, 7-6 (4) in one hour and 24 minutes of play. In addition, it is the first time that Humbert has won a competition on grass.

The process of the game, in general, was very even. There was only one break and it was in the first set. In the second set, which was defined in the tiebreak, there were not even chances of breaking the service for either of the two tennis players.

A priori, Rublev was the great favorite for this match. Above, the numbers supported it: in their only previous meeting, the 7th of the world had won 4-6, 6-4 and 7-5 in Saint Petersburg.

After the consecration, Humbert will rise six positions in the ATP ranking and, as of this Monday, he will be 25 in the world. The 22-year-old will play Mallorca this week and will seek to remain firm to reach Wimbledon in the best way.
