Watching the Partizan – Mega basketball game together, the team followed Koç Dusan’s program to introduce them to the basketball system in Serbia.
A visit was made to the FMP basketball club, which is considered the pilot team of the Red Star Basketball team.
The peculiarity of this visit was that a model that could serve as an example for us was already implemented in the FMP basketball club in Belgrade for decades.
While the children related to basketball continue to study at this high school, they go to basketball training for 2 hours every day. Around 200 children are studying in high school and 1/3 of talented basketball players receive scholarships, while the other 2/3 children both stay in the basketball system and continue their education. There is a collective system built around the existing gym.
There are all kinds of small classroom classrooms, physical therapy, rehabilitation centers, icy water pools and saunas after the match. Looking at the facility, it is not difficult to guess how well-established the system is and who has been here for years.
In the corridors inside, they displayed the pennants of all the opposing teams. From the Turkish national team to Darüşşafaka, from Fenerbahçe to Anadolu Efes and many foreign teams have pennants.
Even this set a good example for us.
As we toured this System with our coach, we realized once again that we started from the right place in order to search for the right ideas for the infrastructure foundations of Frutti Extra Basketball.
Barış Sports Hall, which Nilüfer Municipality has allocated to Frutti Extra Bursaspor, is a very accurate facility where this system can be kept alive. The installation of a school system with a dormitory that should be added here and which intends to invest in basketball. will be one of our goals.
Of course, the most striking issue in the matches watched is that almost all basketball players are from their own countries. Another big advantage of basketball players being from their own country is that all the money spent stays in their own country and invests in their own people. Thus, basketball player talents coming from the system are on the court more, but they have to fight more. There is serious competition inside.
The physical condition of all the basketball players was really high.
Life there seems to be based on basketball, but still, football is more than basketball’s interest.
Alexander Zaric was the CEO of the club, who took us around the FMP basketball club. On the way to our next meeting, we learned at the last minute that Philip, who was helping him, is the son of Nebojsa Covic, the legendary president of Red Star basketball. He is a very humble basketball fan who loves his job. Red Star President Mr. Nebojsa, arranged for us by our coach Dusan Alimpijevic in the afternoon.

At the meeting, as a whole team, we asked questions for 1 hour, listened to their strategies, we talked about them and made comparisons.
Of course, the main issue was always that positive budgets were the main rule.
Belgrade Municipality supports basketball every year as a written rule. Whichever team is in the first league, the same amount of support is given. But the important thing is to get this support and to run the club in a positive way, that is to say, in a balanced way without going negative, and also to ensure sportive success.
It was a very pleasant, useful and productive meeting.

We were really happy to see the foundation of this business in the right place with the help and planning of our coach Dusan, saying that the right strategy is the beginning of every job.
Frutti Extra Cup Basketball, which is in our plans for now, will be a traditional project from the year it will start, and it will be a project that will create serious interest in basketball in Bursa from Turkey and abroad.
