France-Germany: the KO of Benjamin Pavard, hit by Robin Gosens

The Munich Football Arena was paralyzed for a few moments around the hour mark on Tuesday evening between France and Germany. While the Mannschaft is on the attack, Benjamin Pavard manages to release a hot ball from the head, a fraction of a second before being violently struck by Robin Gosens. All from behind and in the head. A whiplash which could have had serious consequences and which did not involve any sanction from the Spanish refereeing body.

On the action, Pavard, player of Bayern Munich of the year, is stopped while Gosens, left side of Atalanta Bergamo, arrives launched at full speed to play this aerial duel. With his hip, he comes to KO the French. Pavard lies down facing the ground, happily conscious. After the intervention of the medical staff of the France team, the side was able to resume his place on the field not without being very marked in the neck.

But, as in the first half during the Pogba-Rüdiger altercation, one may wonder why the VAR (video arbitration) did not intervene. Pavard’s physical integrity was in danger on this action.
