France-Bulgaria: with Ngolo Kanté in the middle and the magic trio in attack

The coach had made no secret of his intentions during his traditional press briefing on the eve of the match. He had ruled out taking any risk with a player who was not 100% physically. As a result, he chose to spare Adrien Rabiot and replace him, this Tuesday against Bulgaria, by Corentin Tolisso. Victim of a contusion to an ankle, the former Parisian was also content to run with a physical trainer, this Monday, during the last training at the Stade de France. His case does not inspire concern, however.

Holder for the first time in more than three months (hamstring tendons) against Wales (3-0), Tolisso will, this time, change somewhat. He will not evolve, in low point of the diamond, but more as a torchbearer. The role of wiper in front of the defense will fall to Ngolo Kanté. Ten days after his sumptuous Champions League final, the small Chelsea midfielder is indeed back.

Within this tactical device, the behavior of the Griezmann-Benzema-Mbappé trio will once again be scrutinized. Against the Welsh, the Madrilenian was interesting in the game, with movement and goodwill, but had failed in the last gesture (1 missed penalty). He would like to coincide this final preparation match before the Euro with his 28th goal in the selection. Or even better if affinities. For the first time since the fall of 2020, the world champions will also play with the public to support them (5,000).

“This match cannot be a squad review,” Deschamps explained. Afterwards, if I have to arrange things, I can always resort to six changes. Especially if there are contingencies. “The coach especially hopes that the opponent of the evening will not be quickly reduced to ten like Wales last Wednesday in Nice. He expects a slightly more consistent opposition from the Bulgarians, and feeds the hope that the latter will be able to pose defensive difficulties to his Blues (dressed in white this Tuesday for the 39th time in their history at home). Which was not really the case against the British players at the Allianz Riviera.

France will make their Euro debut on June 15 in Munich against Germany. In its group F also appear Hungary and Portugal.

The composition of the Blues: Lloris (cap.) – Pavard, Varane, Kimpembe, Hernandez – Pogba, Kanté, Tolisso – Griezmann – Mbappé, Benzema.
