Farewell to Lever, without too many regrets – Sport

A goodbye without too many regrets. This is what will take place at the end of the month between Reggiana Basketball and Alessandro Lever, most likely destined to wear the Trieste shirt next season.

It can be defined as ‘technically’ a farewell because the red and white club, which raised and launched the pivot wing originally from Bolzano in the world of professionals, has a contract proposal in hand until 30 June, formulated in 2017, at the time in which the boy decided to pursue his own college experience (Grand Canyon University).

This ‘card’ is nothing more than a sort of constraint that obliges (until the end of the month) the player to put pen to paper in Italy only with Pallacanestro Reggiana.

To sign elsewhere before this deadline, each company would be forced to indemnify the company that raised it.

Alessandro Lever, however, already courted in the autumn as also admitted by the leaders of Unahotels, never gave the impression of wanting to accept the proposals that came from Reggio and has always demanded economic guarantees and time limits judged disproportionate by the insiders.

Born in 1998, 208 cm by 104 kg, he is the classic player halfway between the ‘five’ and the ‘four’, with good fundamentals and able to open the field with the shot from outside.

Definitely a good striker, but a defender at the moment not up to par. Especially at the Serie A level.

A player who, for characteristics, in the current roster can possibly be compared to Filippo Baldi Rossi and, if we want to be honest, not the ideal prototype for the type of basketball that coach Attilio Caja has in mind who in that role prefers more athletic players and physically strong.

A marriage that could therefore have been done under certain conditions, but which at this point almost certainly won’t happen.

There is also no response even for the rumors, released in recent days especially on the net, of a possible interest in the Reggiana Basketball for Leonardo Totè and Matteo Fantinelli, both data coming out of Fortitudo Bologna after the arrival of coach Jasmin Repesa.

Profiles are not considered compatible with the technical project that the club has in mind.

On the other hand, Adriano Vertemati’s appointment on the Varese bench is official, with the former assistant of Andrea Trinchieri at Bayern Munich who thus takes the place of Massimo Bulleri and will also evaluate the position of Arturs Strautins, still linked to the Lombard club for another season, but in the notebooks of several Serie A teams and deployable as an Italian.
