Colorful confession?
After the fuss about the rainbow ban in Germany’s 2-2 win against Hungary in the Munich arena, there is now colorful advertising in EM arenas.
In Munich, Uefa had banned the stadium from shining in rainbow colors from the outside as a statement of diversity and tolerance. At the round of 16 games on Saturday (Wales – Denmark, Italy – Austria), the advertising of some companies (including TikTok, VW and Booking) on the boards was sometimes colorful.
The question remains: Why does Uefa allow colorful gang advertising?
Answer: Because the city of Munich requested the rainbow as a protest against the Hungary law. Uefa did not want the game to be politicized, hence the cancellation of the sponsors – but only for this game. Today’s games have no political background, so VW and the sponsors who applied for rainbows to Uefa are also allowed to use it.
