National coach Frank de Boer will not listen to the supporters of Orange who flew a plane above the training field in Zeist on Saturday, with a banner that reads ‘Frank, just 4-3-3!’.
“I’m also going to rent a plane,” De Boer joked at the press conference after training. “Only I choose the text: thanks for the tip, but it remains 5-3-2. Ooh no, the goalkeeper coach tells me to say 1-5-3-2.”
De Boer thinks it is a shame that a system with five defenders is associated with defensive football. “We always try to play dominant football and we also want that with this system. 5-3-2 sounds negative to me, with 3-5-2 you already have fewer defenders.”
