Algeria with seven athletes in Budapest

BUDAPEST- Seven judokas (four men and three women) will represent Algeria at the 2021 World Championships, due to start this Sunday in the Hungarian capital Budapest, according to the final admission list, unveiled on Friday by the International Federation of the discipline (IFJ ).

They are Wail Ezzine (-66 kg), Fethi Nourine (-73 kg), Abderrahmane Benamadi (-90 kg) and Mustapha Yasser Bouamar (-100 kg) for the men, as well as Belkadi Amina (-63 kg) , Kaouthar Ouallal (-78 kg) and Sonia Asselah (+78 kg) in the ladies.

Following the competition program unveiled by the organizers, Wail Ezzine will be the first to enter the competition, and from the second day of competition, scheduled for Monday.

The next day, Tuesday, it will be the turn of Fethi Nourine, then Belkadi Amina (Wednesday), Abderrahmane Benamadi (Thursday), Kaouthar Ouallal and Mustapha Yasser Bouamar (Friday), and finally Sonia Asselah (Saturday).

The competition will end the next day, Sunday (June 13), with the “team” events.

A total of 685 judokas (401 men and 284 women), representing 128 countries, will take part in these World Championships, considered as the last qualifying stage for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

With a total of 18 judokas entered for each of them, some countries such as Brazil, the United States, Japan, Russia and Mongolia are the best represented, while some nations, such as Burundi, Burkina Faso and Bahrain have only signed one athlete.
