Alexander Nübel before moving to AS Monaco, Sven Ulreich comes back Bayern Munich

Nübel shortly before moving to Niko Kovač

He came to learn from Manuel Neuer and to replace Germany’s number one in the Bayern Munich goal in the medium term. Now, according to consistent media reports, Alexander Nübel is now facing a loan to the French first division club AS Monaco.

Accordingly, the 24-year-old should complete his medical check this Friday and sign a loan agreement for two years. In the third of Ligue 1, Nübel would train under former Bayern coach Niko Kovač and become a teammate of national player Kevin Volland.

In the summer of 2020, Nübel moved free of charge from FC Schalke 04 to the German record champions in Munich. In the past season he only played one Bundesliga and one cup. He also played twice in the Champions League. Nübel would like to get more match practice and therefore preferred a loan. He still has a contract in Munich until June 30, 2025.

Number two goes, number two comes

After a year-long interlude at HSV, Sven Ulreich is likely to return to FC Bayern, as reported by Sport1 and Kicker, among others. The 35-year-old could resume his old role as number two behind Manuel Neuer. Ulreich had terminated his contract with Hamburger SV after the missed promotion and is currently without a job. The keeper’s medical check, which according to the report is supposed to sign for a year, is still pending.

A move from Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, who had contributed to the relegation of Ostwestfalen with a strong season, to the Munich team is off the table, according to Kicker. The 28-year-old was “too expensive with a fixed transfer fee of five million euros,” it said.

Fiete Arp tries his luck in Kiel

Second division Holstein Kiel has signed striker Jann-Fiete Arp. The 21-year-old is on loan from Bayern Munich to the Kiel Fjord and signs a contract for one season until next summer. The Kiel announced on Friday.

“Unfortunately, Fiete has so far not been able to show what he can do at Bayern, due to two protracted injuries that cost him the pre-season season in both the first and the second year,” said Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidžić. “With the Kielers he has the chance of a change in air and we hope that he can develop his qualities again.”

Arp moved from HSV to Bayern in 2019 for a transfer fee of an estimated three million euros. Since he only made short appearances with the second Bayern team, the former junior international was advised to move to a new club.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to work here in Kiel, near my home,” said the 28-time junior international. Holstein managing director Uwe Stöver praised the new acquisition as “a highly talented, young striker” who has the opportunity in Kiel to “develop further in our environment”.
