Celebrity player Mookie Betts set the tone with a home run as the first hitter of the game, and then the Los Angeles Dodgers won 6-3 against the Pirates on Thursday afternoon in Pittsburgh.

In this game cut to eight innings due to the rain, Betts showed their skill in a number of ways to allow the Dodgers to complete the three-game series sweep.

The outfielder not only added a second hit, but he also stole a goal. On the defense, Betts also made a superb play at the end of the second set, when after a ball caught in right field, he removed Erik Gonzalez, who was trying to score from the third goal on a sacrifice ball.

This game is likely to do good for Betts who, due to various injuries, have not had their best start to the season. While his batting average is .255, it’s worth mentioning that the Dodgers nonetheless is hitting .314 (11 for 35) in his last nine games.

With this gain, the Dodgers are now 37-25 and are second in the Western section of the National, behind the surprising San Francisco Giants.

Starting pitcher Julio Urias (9-2) took advantage of Thursday’s meeting to score his ninth victory of the season. He allowed three runs in six innings of work.

Mitch Keller (3-7) conceded the loss for the Pirates, after allowing four points, including that on the Betts circuit to start the meeting. He was pulled from the game after just two and two-thirds innings.

The Braves escaped him

In Philadelphia, the Phillies played a nasty trick on the Atlanta Braves, winning 4-3 in a 10th inning.

The two teams were tied 1-1 after nine innings, following a strong pitching duel between Zack Wheeler and Ian Anderson. The Braves believed they had taken an option for the win with two points at the start of the 10th, but the Phillies responded with three, the last two of which came from a single winner from Jean Segura.
