Young Mendois judokas back on the tatami

Hajime! The starting signal for a fight, the Mendois judokas had not heard since last October. Tuesday evening, the 10-12 year olds opened the dance for the recovery.

The dojos were authorized to reopen since Wednesday, May 19. Cyrille Delafond and Mr. Bisiaux respectively coach and president of the Mendois Dojo club preferred to wait another week to be fully prepared with the new sanitary measures. In judo, hand disinfection is not enough. It is a sport that is practiced barefoot. A mat in the image of a footbath is used in the dojo for the disinfection of the feet. The changing rooms are closed to the public, so children must be dressed as soon as they arrive. During training, the judokas will only work in pairs. Their pair will remain the same throughout the session. However, after more than six months of stoppage and health measures respected, only two judokats were present for this resumption.

“We have to let go”

Nathalie Hubert, Maya’s mother, one of them, present on Tuesday, is very happy. “They need it”. She doesn’t care. For Nathalie “we have to let go”.

The transition for adolescents is going to be more complicated: “They have to get back into it”, explains Mr. Bisiaux. The club president fears injuries in this recovery. For the most part, young judokas have rarely practiced sports during the last six months.

Maya and Anaelle remain delighted to find the tatami and are only waiting for the return of their comrades.
