Resumption of the NFL: ongoing discussion with the players’ union

The NFL and the NFL Players Association spoke by telephone on Monday but failed to reach a deal on the upcoming season, as several US media reported.

Selon NFL. com, the discussions mainly concerned the economic and financial issues likely to take a hard hit this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. With a major question: will supporters be allowed to return to the stadiums this fall? If so, in what proportions?

“Good meeting today with the management, Richard Sherman, the San Francisco 49ers player and NFLPA vice president, tweeted. We have been frank and honest with them, we will not compromise the health of our players in these discussions. “

NFL and NFLPA will discuss again this Tuesday and address issues around health protocols, especially for the resumption of training and the preseason.

A mask model refused by the players

According to ESPN, players are asking the league to increase its Covid-19 tests to be daily, cancel the two preseason matches still scheduled for each team and thus extend the preparation period after a long cut . Also according to ESPN, the players also rejected a mask model presented by the NFL (see photo below).

Training camps are normally scheduled to start on July 28, and the regular season is scheduled to start on September 10. But there are therefore still many subjects to settle.
