Opening steps – The anticipation in Neunkirchen is enormous

Summer is getting closer and closer. People, especially children and adolescents, yearn more than ever for social interaction in the field of sport. On the one hand, they want to finally get to see their club mates again and, on the other hand, the desire for exercise is great. However, the opening steps in May are subject to strict conditions and represent a major challenge for the clubs in the district.

The ATSV Ternitz offers a wide range of sports. Sections such as triathlon, tennis and athletics started again in May. Most of the sporting activities are being relocated outside: “Indoor sport is almost impossible because the 20-square-meter rule applies and so many cannot participate or it would be very difficult to classify them. That is why most of the sporting activities will take place outside, as the 2-meter distance can be maintained there better and more people can do sports in the usual group sizes.

The trainers themselves have been tested by us, even if this is not actually required (for outdoor athletes only required in team and contact sports, indoor in general). The groups must not be mixed up either. Therefore, especially with the children and young people, we will enter the sports facility in groups with mouth and nose protection, ”says chairwoman Monika Moser, describing the challenging processes (no MNS required in sports, note).

The contact with the parents and young people “works very well”. For example, the athletics section has several WhatsApp groups. Whether swimming is also possible this year depends on the approval of Bad Ternitz. The social aspect shouldn’t be neglected either: “Basically, I think it’s very good that children and young people in particular are now allowed to do sports again. It is important that the children can finally move around in a group again, because the contacts are simply missing, ”says Moser.

“The mental and physical health of children and adolescents is extremely relevant!” JC Wimpassing chairman Erwin Häring is happy about the opening steps in sport.

The top Judokas of the Wimpassing judo club have been preparing for their fights for months. The youngsters, on the other hand, have only been training outdoors for two weeks. From this Thursday, the training will be shifted inside again. A training camp for the U18 took place from May 13th to 16th. “The mental and physical health of children and adolescents is of the highest relevance. If only for the reason that social skills are promoted when interacting. The urge to move is also very strong. We have very good contact with everyone through WhatsApp groups. Both children and parents have accepted our training offer to 110 percent. We are very happy about that, ”said chairman Erwing Häring. In order to be able to train, one of the three “Gs” (vaccinated, tested, recovered) is required, since judo is a contact sport.

The Sport Club Olymp, formerly Boxclub Ternitz, will start on May 19th with an outdoor soccer training session. The following days, boxing lessons are to follow in the evening in the sports hall of the primary school in Ternitz Stapfgasse, and football training again on Fridays. Board member Maximilian Ak considers the opening steps in sport to be long overdue: “The barrel is full. The consequences for the children and adolescents are sometimes serious, as many only hang on to the screens and smartphones. It is all the more important that we now reach young people again and motivate them to participate in sport, ”reports Ak.

From June, self-defense courses for women will again be offered by the Sport Club Olymp.
