Oaxacan Artemarsialista gets fourth place in the IPN’s first Virtual Iaido Tournament

The Oaxacan martial artist Luis Espino Torres showed his mastery in the unsheathing and sheathing of the katana, with which he obtained fourth place in the first Virtual Iaido Tournament, organized by the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN).

Two Oaxacans participated in the national contest of this martial art of Japanese origin, the child José Rafael González and the master Luis Espino Torres.

The participation of Oaxacans was coordinated by Kendo, Iaido and Jodo of the State of Oaxaca Civil Association, chaired by Jesús Reyes López, in what was the second participation of Oaxacan representatives in that discipline in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gladiator Luis Espino Torres, who has a long history in martial arts such as karate, judo and kendo, among others, commented that just over a year ago the Kendo, Iaido and Jodo association of the State of Oaxaca was formed. , with the recognition of the Mexican Federation of Kendo, Iaido and Jodo, but due to the global pandemic due to the coronavirus they could not start activities as they had planned, but in the last month they already had the opportunity to participate in two virtual tournaments , in which to make their forms they had as a setting the Tres D.

In the first Virtual Tournament of Iaido IPN, little José Rafael González was eliminated in the first qualifying round; while the experienced Oaxacan martial artist Luis Espino Torres managed to reach the final round, in which he achieved fourth place in the free category.
