New Andalusian podiums for the Senior team of the Alhaurín de la Torre Badminton Club

A few days ago, our athletes traveled to Huelva where they got two golds, two silvers and two bronzes that add to their honors.

A few days ago, the Andalusian Senior Badminton Championship was held, where some podiums fell for the local team, as is customary in each event in which they compete.

Five players from Alhaurín represented our town in Bonares, Huelva, where the regional event took place. Several of them arrived with the title obtained just before the global pandemic and were willing to revalidate the title, obtaining it from Mateo and Alberca in men’s doubles, this year separately in different categories, although last year they obtained it together.

Along with the golds already mentioned for Mateo Garrido with Chris Knapp (CB Benalmádena) in C1 men’s doubles and Francisco Alberca in B2 men’s doubles with Antonio Bravo (CB Jorge Guillén), the Alhaurín de la Torre Badminton Club got four more medals. Specifically, the bronzes of Baldomero Iniesta in men’s doubles A2 together with Antonio Expósito (CB Málaga) and Francisco Alberca in men’s individual C1. One silver for Héctor Cuenca and Juan Antonio Martín in A1 men’s doubles and another for Mateo Garrido in C1 men’s singles.

The councilor for Sports, María del Mar Martínez, congratulated the senior team on their triumphs and wished them the best “to continue increasing the prolific harvest of this category.”
