Juventus Turin offers Atalanta Bergamo (2-1) and wins the Italian Cup

Juventus Turin saves its season. This Wednesday evening, the Bianconeri won their fourteenth Italian Cup by disposing, in the final, of Atalanta Bergamo (2-1). At the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia, Dejan Kulusevski (31st) and Federico Chiesa (73rd) offered victory to theirs, while Ruslan Malinovsky had nevertheless equalized (41st). The Old Lady can therefore now refocus on Serie A, while a qualification in the Champions League is still possible.

Dejan Kulusevski (21, 24 days old) has become the youngest player to score a goal in the Italian Cup final since Ezequiel Muñoz (with Palermo against Inter in May 2011, aged 20 and 233 days). The Swedish international managed to open the scoring, against the course of the game, with a beautiful curled shot with the left foot (31st, 1-0).

Kulusevski, goalscorer then decisive passer

The young midfielder stood out again in the second act. After having again solicited the opposing goalkeeper (58th), Kulusevski then turned into a decisive passer. Served by Federico Chiesa, he was then able to hand over, in the race, to his teammate, who was quick to adjust Gollini from the inside of the left foot (73rd, 2-1). Federico Chiesa has scored five goals against Atalanta in all competitions, more than against any other team.

Unlike the first act, this goal came to reward a very clear domination of Juve. Before offering the victory to his family, Chiesa had found the post (61st), while Cristiano Ronaldo (60th, 66th) and Danilo (90th + 4) found, for their part, the gloves of the goalkeeper of the Dea .

If the second half was therefore totally to the advantage of Andrea Pirlo’s men, the first was clearly dominated by Gian Piero Gasperini’s proteges. Just before the break, Ruslan Malinovsky even managed to equalize with a powerful strike (41st, 1-1). The Ukrainian became the first Atalanta player to score in an Italian Cup final since Angelo Domenghini in 1963.

From the start of this meeting, Atalanta had forced Gianluigi Buffon to shine. Jose Palomino almost found the fault first (3rd), while Duvan Zapata (18th) and Hans Hateboer (35th) were also more than dangerous. But that was not enough for the Dea to lift the second trophy in its history, after the Italian Cup in 1963, for its second final in the last three seasons. As for Juve, they will have to give everything, this Sunday, against Bologna, to grab a place in C1 and hope for a misstep from Naples or even AC Milan.
