Judo: Moroccan Chafik Elkettani elected Treasurer General of the African Union

The president of the Royal Moroccan Judo Federation, Chafik Elkettani Elhamidi was elected, this Tuesday in Dakar, to the post of general treasurer within the Executive Committee of the African Judo Union (UAJ).

The presidency of this continental judo body went to the Madagascan Thierry Siteny Randrianasokoniaiko, president of the Madagascan Judo Federation and of the Madagascan Olympic Committee, while the other two positions of the executive committee are respectively occupied by Kenyan Shadrack Maluki (chairman). and the Botswanan Estony Pridgeon, elected general secretary.
The members of the UAJ’s executive are elected for a four-year term, 2021-2025.

The election of Elkettani Elhamidi, which marks the Kingdom’s return to African judo bodies after an absence of more than 30 years, took place during the elective congress held on the sidelines of the African judo championships.

The stakes of these elections were of great importance with fierce competition from new leaders of African judo, many of whom come from the political or business world or occupy key positions in their national Olympic committees with the stakes of positioning nations in major African sports and Olympic governing bodies such as the Union of African Sports Confederations (UCSA) and the Association of African National Olympic Committees (ANOCA).

The Senegalese capital is home until the 23rd, it should be remembered, the 42nd edition of the African Senior Judo Championships (men and women), a qualifying tournament for the Tokyo Olympics.
