Jordan Clarkson of Utah Jazz wins Sixth Man of the Year Award

Jordan Clarkson of Utah Jazz is the new Sixth Man of the Year. As the NBA announced, the Jazz Guard received the most votes from journalists, succeeding Montrezl Harrell, who won the LA Clippers last year.

Clarkson is the first Utah Jazz player to win this award. The 28-year-old had 65 of the 100 first votes for himself. Otherwise only teammates Joe Ingles and Derrick Rose from the New York Knicks received first place votes. It is the first time in the history of the award that two teammates have combined the first two places for themselves.

Clarkson put on a career record of 18.4 points over the season, plus 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists. In total, the Guard sank 208 three-pointers, only six more players scored in the entire NBA. Clarkson scored at least 20 points in 23 games, his season high of the season was 41 points against the Golden State Warriors on May 10.
Clarkson spent the early years of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers and later with the Cleveland Cavaliers before the Guard was traded to Utah in December 2019. “That has helped me a lot,” said Clarkson at Inside the NBA. “Everyone here knows their role and what to do.”

Little did he know that Clarkson would receive the award that evening, when he did an interview with Ingles For TNT gave. Ingles quipped afterwards. “He stole the award from me. I should have stopped passing the ball to him.”

A total of 15 players received at least one vote, including the two reservists of the Dallas Mavericks, Jalen Brunson and Tim Hardaway Jr., who finished fourth and fifth.
