In Aubigny-sur-Nère, three multisport courses will bring together sixty wounded soldiers

From Monday, there will be sixty wounded soldiers from the Army, the Air and Space Army, the Navy and the National Gendarmerie to meet in Sologne. The Regional Youth and Sports Center (CRJS) of Aubigny-sur-Nère will host, for three weeks, the tenth edition of the Military Injury and Sports Meetings (RMBS).

“As part of their care path”

These meetings constitute “an important milestone in the reconstruction process through sport intended for soldiers injured physically or mentally, post-traumatic stress in particular”, indicates the Ministry of the Armed Forces. They have been organized since 2012 by the Army Wounded Aid Unit (Cabat). The Cher is a privileged place of reception of this system, the RMBS having already taken place, in the past years, at the Center of resources of expertise and sport performance (Creps) of Bourges, and at the CRJS of Aubigny. The latter has the advantage of being “a center equipped with numerous sports facilities”.

Three multi-sport courses of one week each are planned. Diving, adapted horseback riding, archery, curling, laser shooting… About ten sports activities will be offered per course. Among the participants, twelve seriously injured, including some residents of the National Institution of Invalids (INI), a medical establishment specializing in the care of war wounded.

“A pool of potential competitors”

“The objective is to introduce these wounded to the practice of sports activities adapted to their pathology and allow them to discuss with all those involved in medico-social monitoring,” underlines the Ministry of the Armed Forces. RMBS trainees can also constitute a pool of potential competitors able to participate in various national and international sporting events. “
