EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A home run by Elliott Curtis allowed Équipe Quebec to win the first duel of a double program against the Evansville Otters 4-3 on Saturday in the Frontier League.

Curtis slammed his long ball in the fifth inning against Tyler Vail (0-1) to give Équipe Quebec a one-point lead.

Vail remained at the mound for six of seven innings for the Otters, conceding three runs and seven hits. He completed three strikeouts.

Riley Pittman, with a sacrifice ball in second, and Jeffry Parra, with a single in fourth, produced the other points for Team Quebec.

Nick Horvath (1-0) was credited with the victory. He shared the work with David Gauthier, Marshall Shill and Andrew Case for Équipe Quebec.

The two teams played a second game in the evening on Saturday.

On Friday, Team Quebec clinched a victory over the Gateway Grizzlies in another doubles program. The second game ended with a draw.

Due to the pandemic, players from the Capitales de Québec and the Aigles de Trois-Rivières formed Équipe Québec.

Managed by Patrick Scalabrini, this club will play its matches on American soil until July 23, at the very least.
