First Lady: “We will work until the last day of this Government to deliver benefits to the people”

San Juan (Intibucá), May 26, 2021.- The Government, through the Cabinet for Peace and Coexistence, inaugurated the Park for a Better life number 104, which was built in the Las Brisas neighborhood of the municipality of San Juan, department of Intibucá.

The First Lady moved to the place of the important work, Ana Garcia de Hernandez, who together with the Deputy Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, Marian Valladares; the commissioner of Copeco, Max Gonzales; the deputy Nelson Márquez, the mayor Ariel Benítez and the governor, Hodalma Benítez, unveiled the plaque and the official ribbon cutting.

“Happy to share with the population of San Juan, in the inauguration of this park; As we have already mentioned in other activities, the pandemic did not allow us to inaugurate them before, but there are 25 parks that are ready to be inaugurated, ”said García de Hernández.

“We will work until the last day of this government to bring benefits to the people,” added García de Hernández.

Violence prevention

To date, 104 Parks for a Better Life have been built and rehabilitated, located in 16 departments of the country (Francisco Morazán, Cortés, Atlántida, Olancho, Lempira, Santa Bárbara, La Paz, Yoro, Choluteca, Comayagua, Islas de la Bahía , Copán, Intibucá, Ocotepeque, Colón and El Paraíso).

“This is a work of benefit for healthy coexistence with security and biosecurity measures so that families can share healthily, and very sure that it is a clean, beautiful and safe area,” added the wife of the Honduran president.

In addition, with the spaces for coexistence, thousands of people benefit permanently with free classes in different sports and Zumba disciplines, as well as cultural and leisure activities.

Among the sports disciplines taught by federated instructors include boxing, taekwondo, karate do, fencing, athletics, basketball, muay thai and judo, among others.

Project details

The new park built in the Las Brisas neighborhood, adjacent to the municipal field, San Juan, Intibucá, consists of 1,172.57 square meters of construction.

The recreation center has a children’s area with a synthetic grass floor and white sand, a fitness and aerobics area with a concrete floor, a social area with a colored tile floor and concrete paths.

More than 7,900 inhabitants of the municipality of San Juan and surrounding communities will benefit.

The investment made is more than 1.6 million lempiras, of which 1,199,551.39 lempiras were financed with funds from the Investment and Assignment Trust (FINA2) and 486,500 lempiras as municipal counterpart.
