Deconfinement of team sports: matches and competitions will be authorized

The Legault government is gradually deconfining team sports. Starting June 11, soccer or baseball games will be allowed in the yellow zones. Tournaments and competitions can be held outdoors starting June 25 across Quebec.

Minister Isabelle Charest said Thursday that supervised sports and recreation will be allowed outside in groups of 25 people from June 11 in regions with yellow alert.

It will thus be possible to practice sports with brief contact, such as soccer, baseball or volleyball, and to organize league games and activities.

As of June 25, athletes from all over Quebec, young and old, will be able to participate in tournaments and competitions outside. The events will be able to accommodate spectators.

Inside, the gradual resumption of activities will follow the color codes. “The move to the yellow tier will allow indoor activities to return in groups of no more than twelve people, but the holding of games, league activities, competitions and tournaments will only be permitted once a region has upgraded to the yellow tier. green alert, for a group of up to 25 people, ”said the Minister responsible for Sports.
