Charles Schwab Challenge: Jordan Spieth falls, Jason Kokrak takes advantage

Leader at the end of each of the first three rounds, the American Jordan Spieth was unable to keep up the pace on Sunday at the Charles Schwab Challenge, ceding the victory to Jason Kokrak in the last round of the event presented in Texas.

On the last day, Kokrak stalled three birdies, but committed as many bogueys on the nine to go. The 36-year-old offered a scenario on the return nine, wedging two birdies and as many thefts. He ended up playing par of 70 and won by a cumulative 266 (-14).

For his part, Spieth played one more stroke than normal on each hole, between the second and fourth flags. He was never able to fully recover afterwards, succeeding in two birdies and as many bogeys. By hitting the ball 73 (+3) times, Spieth finished his tournament in second place, two strokes behind the winner.

On the Canadiens’ side, Adam Hadwin was the best. The 33-year-old finished with a cumulative 274 (-6), tied for eighth with five other players, eight strokes behind Kokrak.

For his part, Corey Conners played two more strokes than Hadwin during the competition. He thus seized the 20e position, with a host of opponents.

Finally, Nick Taylor got into trouble on the last day of activities. A round of 75 (+5) lost him 28 places, to finish in 62e position, with two other golfers.
