Badminton: Lianne Tan qualified for the Tokyo Games!

Lianne Tan announced it herself, this Monday, on social networks: she qualified for the Tokyo Games, the third Olympic meeting of her career, at 30! After the Malaysian Open, which was to take place from May 25 to 30, the International Badminton Federation has, in fact, decided to cancel the Singapore Open, scheduled for June 1 to 6, due to the health crisis, and to stop the process of Olympic qualification there.

Currently 24th in the ranking, the Limbourgoise is therefore indeed one of the 38 lucky winners (two per nation in the Top 16 and one afterwards) called to compete in the Tokyo Games.

“This Olympic qualification was longer than ever before, but I really enjoyed every moment. I have worked and learned a lot over the past few months. It was not always easy. But I am proud , today, to be able to announce my participation in these third Olympic Games, after London 2012 and Rio 2016. I am very happy and very excited! “ lance Lianne Tan.
