Ulm prevailed against Oldenburg in the quarter-finals of the German basketball championship and now meets Alba Berlin.
Berlin. Alba Berlin knows his opponent in the semifinals of the German basketball championship: In the first game of the play-off series based on the “Best of five” mode on Sunday (2 pm, Mercedes-Benz Arena), the Berlin team will face Ratiopharm Ulm.
The Swabians prevailed against the Baskets Oldenburg in the quarter-finals. They won the fourth game with 96:88 (33:42) and the series with it 3: 1. Ulm made the decisive third victory after an increase in performance in the second half perfect. The hosts’ top scorer was Troy Caupain (20 points), at Oldenburg club idol Rickey Paulding was the best thrower of the evening with 25 points.
Bayern Munich are also in the semi-finals
In addition to Ulm and Alba (3-0 against Hamburg Towers), Bayern Munich (3-1 against Merlins Crailsheim) are already in the semi-finals. The cup winner will meet the main round winners Riesen Ludwigsburg or Brose Bamberg from Saturday, the decision in the series will be made on Thursday (6.30 p.m. / MagentaSport). It’s 2: 2.
Alba Berlin has won twice against Ratiopharm in the Bundesliga season: in Ulm on March 7th with 84:76, in Berlin on December 19th with 93:83. After the success against Oldenburg, the Ulm coach Jaka Lakovic warned the defending champion: “My boys are not fed up yet.” His team finished the Bundesliga round in sixth place, Alba in second. BM
