Saturday May 11, the Olympic flame, just arrived from its native Greece, and barely disembarked from Belem, will arrive in Forcalquier. Indeed, the county town is one of the seven towns in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence which will be crossed by the latter, an event of international scope.
The City of Forcalquier has done everything possible to make this special day an exceptional event, placed under the sign of sport and the humanist values conveyed by this global sporting event.
From 2 p.m., on Place Martial-Sicard, the Olympic village will welcome the Forcalquier associations for activities and demonstrations of football (giant table football), horse riding, tennis, badminton, kickboxing , karate, archery (artisans’ court), athletics, cycling, UNSS and break dancing.
A good start to wait while waiting for the arrival of the flame, announced for 4:30 p.m. From 4:30 p.m. to 5:10 p.m., the flame will meet the Forcalquiérens passing from torchbearer to torchbearer, with a start of the municipal swimming pool to head towards Place Martial-Sicard.
Two loops will be, before that, carried out by avenue Marcel-André, rue du Docteur Casimir-Caire and boulevard Latourette.
In total, 13 porters will take turns. Among the latter, Jean-Paul Coche, bronze medalist at the Munich Olympic Games in 1972, in judo, and the local of the stage, Jean-Michel Bayle, former world champion in motocross.

At 10 p.m., fireworks will be set off from the cathedral, before Mephisto takes over for an evening of dancing until the end of the night on a unique day, rich in emotions.

In view of the passage of the Olympic flame, parking will be prohibited from Friday May 10 at 8 a.m. to Saturday May 11 in the following areas: Place Martial-Sicard; rue Cassin; avenue Fontauris; avenue Claude-Delorme and swimming pool parking; rue du Souvenir Français; rue du Dr Casimir Cairo; rue Eugène-Bernard; avenue de Verdun; Boulevard de la République; Latourette Boulevard; Place du Bourguet.
Traffic will be prohibited on Saturday, May 11 from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., on the following roads: avenue Saint-Promasse; Latourette Boulevard; boulevard de la République to the junction of avenue de Verdun; avenue de Verdun to the junction with avenue du Dr Eugène-Bernard; avenue du Dr Eugène-Bernard; rue du Dr Casimir-Cairo; road from Place Martial-Sicard to Avenue Claude-Delorme; avenue Claude-Delorme to the end of the Alain-Prieur sports complex; avenue du 8 mai 1945; avenue Fontauris.
Traffic will be prohibited from 12 p.m. to midnight on the following roads: avenue Marcel-André and rue Louis-Andrieux.
