Sports tragedies of the stellar Goggia. Ledecká’s rival broke a bone in her knee in the fall

The Olympic winner and the best skier of the season, Sofia Goggia, seriously injured her knee and will lose her participation in the home world championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The Italian skier fell on the side track in Garmisch-Partenkirchen as she descended from the starting area into the valley after Sunday’s super-giant slalom was postponed to Monday due to fog.

Twenty-eight-year-old Goggia left Germany for a detailed examination in Milan, where doctors found that she had a broken bone in her knee. They did not state the expected absence, but it is certain that as the biggest favorite of the congress, they will not be able to start at the February World Championships.

Goggia was second in the first run of the season, winning the next four and heading for a small globe for the second time in her career. In the overall ranking of the World Championships, one of Ester Ledecká’s rivals is fourth.
