Ķibermanis confirms readiness before the World Championships in Altenberg / Diena

Oskars Ķibermanis with his main pusher Matīss Mikni won the 2nd place in the doubles competition in the last stage of the World Cup (PK) in Īgls. In the quartet competition, Ķibermanis with Dāvis Spriņģis, Mikni and Krista Lindenblat shared the 5th place. Oskars Melbārdis took the 12th place both days, but the German Francesco Friedrich remained unbeaten in both bobsled disciplines. Already this weekend, the World Championships for two will take place on the German track in Altenberg.

Before the last doubles competition, Oskars Ķibermanis kept the chances to rise from fifth to third place in the overall standings of the World Championships. Without starting the Swiss Michael Fogt, only the Czech Dominic Dvorak had to be overtaken, however, the Czech was 50 points ahead and the Egls track is handy for him. Dvorak reaffirmed this, achieving the 4th best result. Ķibermanis and Mikni did their job with honor. With a good start and skillful driving, he managed to be immediately behind the mighty German Francesco Friedrich.

Oskars Melbārdis started with an injury to the back leg muscle during the warm-up in the previous stage, so only 12th place in the total. Pleased bobsleigh freshman Emīls Cipulis, who started outside the World Cup for the first time outside Latvia, while his pusher Ivo Dans Kleinbergs made his debut in PK. In the second race, Cipuli had even the 11th best result and the 17th place in the sum.

The last, 22nd start number of the Kibermanis Quartet to compete for the podium in the quartet competition was greatly disturbed.
